Shop around for best Isa

Customers are being encouraged to take every precaution to make sure they are getting the best available deal on their Isa.

According to Rachel Thrussell, head of savings at moneyfacts.co.uk, despite almost all best rate buys not accepting transfers and half of Isas only being available for year subscriptions, "there are still some great rates to be found".

The group believes that some of the best packages in their category include the Yorkshire Building Society Isa as well as the Abbey Isa offering.

Other recommended offerings include the First Direct mini cash Isa, as well as Bradford & Bingley's Isa.

Ms Thrussel said: "To maximise your Isa returns, it is best to take advantage of the best current deal for your 2007 allowance, and move your existing contributions to the best possible provider, taking care to check your Isa rates at least once a year.

"Make sure you get the best rate on all your Isa accounts, both past and present," she added.
