Britannia accounts 'support Premiership football clubs'

Ardent football fans have been given the opportunity to assist their favourite football teams with Britannia Building Society football accounts.

In the last eight years, some £20 million has been presented to 13 Premiership and Championship football clubs.

By taking out one of these Britannia accounts, including the popular save and support versions, loyal fans will be helping to give back annual bonuses to their clubs.

Clubs involved in the Britannia account scheme include some of the most esteemed clubs in the land, including Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton.

Money from the accounts has been used to fund player development schemes and youth academies, at a time when many clubs have also promised to freeze ticket prices among fans.

Tim Franklin, managing director of member business at the group, said: "Britannia is the leading financial provider in this market and it is absolutely fantastic that we are able to return such huge bonuses to the clubs."
