Leeds mortgage gives 'peace of mind'

Leeds Building Society has announced details of new rates for its ten-year fixed-rate mortgage, a product which will give peace of mind to homeowners.

With inflationary pressures causing the Bank of England's monetary policy committee to moot interest rate rises, taking out a long-term fixed-rate mortgage with a rate of 5.54 per cent may be a savvy move.

The Leeds mortgage is available up to 90 per cent loan-to-value, while the package also has the flexibility to allow for ten per cent in capital repayments.

Fully portable, the Leeds mortgage allows customers who would like to remortgage during the fixed-term to take the product with them.

Karen Wint, head of marketing and PR at the group, said: "With the recent rise in market rates and the widely predicted further increase in bank base rate, possibly as early as next month, many borrowers will be looking for ways to protect themselves against any increase and lock in long-term value."

She added: "At just over 5.50 per cent with a fixed fee, rather than some of the higher percentage based fees, this product provides certainty at an affordable rate."
