Barclays is offering free cinema tickets to young people who take on its new student packages.

The packages already offer young savers a host of attractive features, including an interest-free overdraft of £1,000, which will increase up to £2,000.

Available to those students who take on a student additions bank account and a student Barclaycard, the credit card offers a 14.9 per cent APR as well as 56 days interest-free credit.

Graduate and student customers all have access to dedicated relationship managers, online banking and the group's new mobile phone banking service.

Andrew Harris, head of current accounts at Barclays, said: "We understand that being a student can be financially demanding and that there are many other things students want to be doing rather than worrying about their finances."

He added: "Barclays is therefore offering a straightforward way to take the hassle out of managing money with a comprehensive package and financial support to enable students to make the most of university life."
