Internet 'savvy' method to seek out property

Increasing numbers of people are set to use the internet to search for an investment in bricks and mortar.

Research carried out by Halifax Estate Agency indicates that while one in ten people currently search for their property on the internet, this is set to increase to 29 per cent.

Currently, young people are far more likely to search websites for their dream home, with over two-fifths of people between the ages of 18 and 24 having browsed property websites.

By contrast, just one per cent of people over the age of 65 have started their property search on the internet.

Colin Kemp, managing director for Halifax Estate Agents, said: "Finding a new property on the internet has certainly increased in popularity with the ease of searching from your own home and the ability to search thousands of properties at a click of a button revolutionising the process."

He said that Halifax's online facility enables customers to search for properties around the clock.
