Summer holidays damage covered by Sainsbury's Home Insurance

Sainsbury's Home Insurance has claimed to be among the four per cent of insurers that cover against damage done in the summer holidays.

Research by YouGov has revealed that 5.6 million homes were damaged by children or pets during last year's summer holidays.

Robert O'May, manager of Sainsbury's Home Insurance, said: "A mixture of general high spirits and children letting off steam can result in substantial damage to the family home and parents need to make sure they have adequate insurance to cover the inevitable mishaps and accidents that will occur."

Sainsbury's offering includes unlimited buildings cover, a maximum standard no-claims discount of 30 per cent and cover by accidental damage - including that caused by pets.

Last week, Halifax Home Insurance revealed that the number of accidents which happen in the home increases by almost a quarter in the summer months.
