Abbey fixed-term savings bonds launched

Abbey has launched a trio of new fixed-term savings bonds with a minimum opening balance of £1.

The first of these is Abbey's 50 Plus Bond, which has a fixed monthly AER of 6.25 per cent over three years.

A gross annual AER of 6.25 per cent is offered over four years in the new Children's Savings Bond.

And there is also a regular fixed-rate bond which can be guaranteed for one, two or three years.

"The 50 plus market holds 60 per cent of all savings and are responsible for over 40 per cent of all consumer demand and Abbey is firmly committed to offering compelling ideas for this group," said Abbey's head of savings and investments Reza Attar-Zadeh.

"We also expect the other bonds available in this launch to appeal to both those saving for children or looking for regular interest payments."

Abbey Savings recently advised people who are considering opening individual savings accounts that they should check the accessibility options offered by the provider.
