Nationwide fixed-rate mortgages reduced

A raft of rate reductions has been announced by Nationwide Building Society across its range of fixed-rate mortgage offerings.

Home movers can now get fixed rates from 5.78 per cent on two-year deals with a £999 fee, 5.98 per cent on three-year deals with a £499 fee and 6.34 per cent on 25-year deals with a £599 fee.

For those looking to remortgage or borrow more, there are various new rates available, including a fee-free, two-year fixed rate of 6.53 per cent.

A £100 discount on the reservation fee is offered to any existing Nationwide customer looking to switch between products or take on one of the reduced rate deals.

Nationwide allows borrowers the opportunity to overpay, underpay, take payment holidays and carry over all of its mortgage products.

Earlier this month, Abbey Mortgages revealed that the value of the average loan taken out by first-time buyers has almost doubled in the space of four years.
