Saga car insurance for older drivers

A price comparison site for over-50s looking for car insurance has been launched by Saga, it has been announced.

ConfidentCover.com is tailor-made for older drivers who are interested in getting a better deal on their car insurance, Saga claims.

Approximately 70 per cent of those over the age of 50 have been to an aggregator online to look at car insurance, research shows.

Andrew Goodsell, chief executive, Saga Group, said: "Today's over-50s are increasingly web-savvy.

"However, a number told us that they were not confident that they would get the cover they wanted if they used a generic price comparison site. So we created ConfidentCover.com in response to that need."

A full 83 per cent of those surveyed by Saga said that they thought most price comparison sites put low premiums above every other factor and failed to take into account many important policy details.

Meanwhile, Sainsbury's Bank has found that of those who intend to buy a car in the next six months, 18.5 per cent will do so by taking out a loan.
