Halifax Travel Insurance warning to rugby fans

Halifax Travel Insurance has warned rugby fans heading to this month's World Cup not to forget to take out cover.

The bank claimed that many people who head out on short breaks do not feel it is worthwhile taking out travel insurance.

However, with Brits heading away on an increasing number of breaks, it could be the case that an annual policy is the safest bet.

"With more and more of us taking short breaks abroad, annual travel insurance is proving a more attractive proposition for many people," said Vicky Emmott, senior manager of underwriting for the insurer.

"With little difference in price and in some cases actually cheaper, it makes sense to take out annual cover."

The recommendation follows research from the Post Office, which revealed that almost half of people who go abroad do not bother taking out cover, with many people deeming it to be non-essential.
