Churchill Car Insurance highlights 'rusty' driving skills

Many drivers on the road are guilty of being 'rusty', according to Churchill Car Insurance.

A survey by the insurer revealed that 42 per cent of infrequent drivers feel as though they are not at their sharpest when they get behind the wheel.

Confidence is also a problem for many drivers, with 47 per cent saying they do not enjoy driving on busy roads.

And 11 per cent of new drivers do not consolidate their learning, leaving it more than two years before driving again.

"For those who feel their driving skills have become 'rusty', it may be worth undertaking a refresher course now and again to increase driver confidence and make the roads safer for everyone," said Frances Browning, spokesperson for Churchill Car Insurance.

A recent survey of holidaymakers by Zurich found that 34 per cent are worried about driving while abroad.
