Alliance & Leicester eSaver Offshore recommended to expats

Most expatriates are not taking advantage of their better wages by putting them in a savings account, Alliance & Leicester has claimed.

While 32 per cent of respondents in a new poll of expats told the bank they had headed overseas in pursuit of their dream job, only 30 per cent set up an offshore account.

In a bid to make banking while abroad easier, Alliance & Leicester has set up its online eSaver Offshore account, which can be opened without the need for an actual signature.

Describing the account, Simon Hull, managing director of Alliance & Leicester International, said: "It is unique in enabling customers to transfer their opening balance within days of opening an account - unlike other offshore savings providers, whose postal application processes can take weeks to complete."

According to ShelterOffshore.com, most people who decide to retire abroad favour the names they know best when it comes to opening an offshore bank account.
