Amnesty International benefits from Co-operative Bank credit card

Customers looking for a more ethical credit card provider might be interested in the Amnesty International card, offered by the Co-operative Bank.

Amnesty International receives £15 every time a credit card account is opened with the bank and also benefits from 25p for every £100 spent.

The Co-operative Bank's donations to the 'Stand Up For Freedom' events at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival also allowed all proceeds to be donated to the charity - meaning that it has received more than £2 million from the bank to date.

Cards such as the Amnesty International card are a "fantastic" way for people to give money to their chosen charity, according to Carol Karaca, partnership manager from the Co-operative Bank.

She added: "At the Co-operative Bank we are delighted to work with Amnesty to provide a credit card which makes a positive difference to people's lives around the world."

Last week, the Co-operative Bank announced details of a new £25 million fund established to benefit small businesses in poor countries.
