Halifax Home Insurance extends Beat and Freeze

Halifax Home Insurance has extended its Beat and Freeze offer until the end of the year.

The deal will see Halifax underselling its home insurance competitors, as well as freezing customers' premiums until 2010 where buildings and contents are bought together and no claims are made in the first two years.

Customers who switched to Halifax Home Insurance in August saved an average of £113, the bank claims.

Tom Woolgrove, managing director of Halifax Home Insurance, said that recent weather events and rising home insurance premiums persuaded the bank to extend the promotion.

"Our Beat and Freeze offer remains a great option for people who are looking for a product which enables them to budget for the future, without having to worry about price increases in this period of financial change."

Halifax recently advised bargain hunters to be wary of second-hand electrical goods at car boot sales.
