NFU Mutual home insurance warning

Many people in the UK do not review the level of home contents cover they have, according to the insurer NFU Mutual.

A full quarter of Britons have neglected to review their contents cover since taking out a home insurance policy, a survey from the insurer discovered.

And 22 per cent admitted that they simply keep one level of cover year after year for simplicity's sake, the research found.

Laura Wood at NFU Mutual said: "Our research shows that some of the reasons given for not reviewing include ignorance, laziness and a belief that the process is time consuming.
"However, it does not need to be an arduous process."

These days many households acquire expensive items like flat-screen plasma TVs and yet do not bother to raise their contents cover, NFU Mutual stated.

Meanwhile, the firm has also advised people whose houses have thatched roofs that it will not break the bank to insure their homes against fire.
