Abbey savings deals offered

Abbey Savings has encouraged its customers to take advantage of "exceptional" fixed-term savings deals.

Current market conditions have generated some very good savings deals, Abbey claims, but cautions savers that the deals will probably not last much longer.

Those who want to lock in a good savings rate with a fixed-term deal may be interested in Abbey's new short-term fixed-rate bonds.

The Abbey eBond is fixed until January 1st, 2008 and offers 6.70 per cent gross rate per annum and an AER of 6.87 per cent.

Meanwhile, an Abbey Bond is fixed for the same length of time and provides a 6.60 per cent gross rate per annum and a 6.77 per cent AER.

Reza Attar-Zadeh, head of savings and investments at Abbey, commented: "This is a great time for savings and savers should take advantage while the current market conditions last.

Abbey also offers separate fixed-rate deals on selected individual savings accounts and monthly saver accounts.
