Direct Line insurance expanded for small businesses

Aimed at high street shop owners, the new shop insurance policy includes a cover for perishable goods lost from the breakdown of storage equipment worth up to £15,000, as well as £2,000 of cover for goods damaged in transit and as much as £500,000 for loss of income.
Meanwhile, the policy for commercial property was designed for buy-to-let property owners and investors with one to five properties.
Included in the cover is buildings and public liability, as well as add-on options such as loss of rent if the property becomes unusable after a loss.
Kate Syred, spokesperson at Direct Line for Business, commented: "Direct Line's commercial insurance is aimed at small business owners who choose to buy their insurance needs direct and want the convenience of a fast, efficient and value-for-money product."
Direct Line entered the commercial insurance market in September.
