Saga Health Insurance: Older people less stressed

A new survey has found that people become less stressed as they get older, partly because they have fewer money worries.

Research by Saga suggests that young Brits are more stressed than people aged over 50 due to financial pressures, such as buying a first home.

Over two-thirds of Brits in their late teens and early 20s worry a lot about money, while only a fifth of the over-50s feel the same burden.

Andrew Goodsell, Saga chief executive, said: "It's well documented that many of today's baby-boomers have never had it so good.

"This study clearly shows that they are also the most relaxed and dispels the view that many have a mid-life crisis when they reach their 50s."

The findings echo a similar survey that was carried out in the US last year.

A Harris poll found that less than one in ten Americans over 60 experienced a lot of stress, compared with 29 per cent of adults in their 20s.
