The most popular time to apply is between 13:00 and 14:00 BST, according to the research, while applications begin to decrease significantly after 18:00 BST.
Sunday was revealed to be the least popular day for online loan applications and men were shown to be more apt to use the internet to apply.
Neil Chandler, head of Halifax unsecured personal loans, remarked: "Our results show that although weekday afternoons are the time most of us look to apply, an increasing number of people choose to make use of our 24-hour online service - often sorting out their finances into the small hours of the morning."
It usually takes less than ten minutes to complete an online application, he added.
Recently, Halifax Unsecured Personal Loans revealed that more than half of parents said their children would need to take out a student loan to help pay for their university studies.
