Barclays gift card 'just in time for the holidays'

A new Barclays gift card has been introduced which could help shoppers take care of those hard-to-buy presents.

Any amount between £10 and £300 can be added to the Barclays gift card, which can then be adorned with the recipient's name and an appropriate message.

The Barclays gift card, which costs £3 to purchase, is also valid for two years and can be used at millions of shops worldwide, as well as at online retailers.

Andrew Jones, product director for Barclays Current Account and Savings, commented: "We are expecting the Barclays gift card to be really popular in the run up to Christmas.

"As a pre-paid card it is more secure than cash and more flexible than vouchers so that should make it really popular with those who receive it too!"

In July, Barclays introduced a pre-paid money card which was aimed at travellers spending overseas.
