Sainsbury's Home Insurance: Shopping around saves money

New research from Sainsbury's Home Insurance reveals that 26 per cent of homeowners do not shop around for their cover.

The study indicates that 8.55 million Britons admit that they do not obtain additional quotes when purchasing home buildings or content insurance, while 16 per cent of respondents sought out only one extra quote.

Steve Johnson, head of home insurance at Sainsbury’s, said that "it really is essential" to look around for the best deal.

"Despite the fact that home insurance premiums are reportedly on the rise, products vary dramatically and there are some cracking deals out there if people take the time to evaluate what's on offer," he remarked.

"We are currently offering customers 12 months for the price of nine and a further ten per cent off if they shop online."

Last month, Sainsbury's Home Insurance predicted that half-term damage done by pets and kids could surpass £100 million.
