Abbey Mortgages finds Britons willing to move

New research from Abbey Mortgages has revealed that one-quarter of first-time buyers would be willing to move to a different area of the UK to get on the property ladder.

In addition to relocating within the country, some are ready to further afield, with 16 per cent of respondents admitting that they would consider moving abroad to be able to afford a house.

The study also indicates that 39 per cent of first-time buyers are thinking of taking on a second job to buy their first property.

Nici Audhlam-Gardiner, Head of Abbey Mortgages commented: "Abbey is fully aware of the difficulties first time buyers have in getting onto the property ladder and is committed to developing new mortgages to give these customers the help they need.

"We have a range of mortgage deals designed specifically with first-time buyers in mind, including no-deposit mortgages."

Recent research from Abbey Mortgages revealed that in some areas of the UK it is currently cheaper to buy than to rent.
