Sainsbury's insurance warning for pets

Sainsbury's has issued a fresh warning to pet owners across the UK regarding their insurance coverage.

Responding to research from Defaqto which reveals that over one-third of cat and dog insurance policies do not provide cover beyond 12 months, Sainsbury's has urged pet owners to check their coverage.

Sainsbury's insurance claims data indicates that 30 per cent of pet treatments can continue beyond a 12-month period.

Claire Moyles, Sainsbury's Pet Insurance manager, commented: "It is imperative that people check what their policy covers before purchasing it." She added that those who do not may face unexpectedly large bills.

"Good quality pet insurance does not need to be expensive because extensive cover at a competitive price can be found by shopping around," remarked Ms Moyles.

Earlier this month, a Sainsbury's insurance deal was announced in which new customers would get 30 days of a pet insurance policy at no charge.
