The offer on Tesco Home Insurnace runs from December 1st 2007 to January 15th 2008 and can be combined with any other discounts relating to a policy.
Allan Burns, head of Tesco Home Insurance, said that the company is introducing the extra cover to help ease people's worries during a potentially stressful time of year.
He also raised concerns that many people may not be aware that they are going beyond the limits of their regular contents insurance cover.
"Over the Christmas period, when homes are full of gifts, it's sensible for consumers to make their houses as secure as possible," he remarked.
"We aim to make it a less stressful time by increasing customers' cover at no extra charge."
According to Apacs, the UK's payments association, Britons could spend a total of £53 billion this holiday season.
