Abbey Business Banking: Entrepreneurs must work hard

Motivation, self-discipline and hard work are the most essential qualities for running a business, respondents to an Abbey Business Banking (ABB) survey said.
These characteristics were ranked higher than innovation and honesty as being important in the building of a successful business.
Negative traits such as being a workaholic or having a ruthless streak were frowned upon by the cross-section of small and medium-sized business bosses.
ABB managing director Ian Wilson said: "Our research shows that motivation and hard work are essential ingredients in the successful entrepreneur."
Another recent survey from ABB revealed that 27 per cent of small business bosses do not take care of their health.
Almost a quarter of respondents said that their job had had a negative impact on their health and many said they did not have time to take regular exercise.
