Those customers can be guaranteed that Nationwide will beat the price they paid for home insurance in 2007 or else they will receive a refund of up to £100, as long as the policy is equivalent to what is provided by Nationwide.
The Nationwide home insurance offer also includes a 20 per cent discount if contents and buildings cover are purchased together - and 30 per cent if they are bought online.
If a customer purchases either buildings or contents insurance, they can also receive a discount of 12.5 per cent for buying online.
Nationwide's insurance director, Robin Bailey, commented: "This is a genuine offer to beat what customers paid last year for their home insurance.
She added that the promotion means that "customers can be sure" they are getting excellent service and cover.
In December, Nationwide announced that customers could now access their accounts using their iPhone.
