Tesco Pet Insurance warning about vet bills

Tesco Pet Insurance warned those who own animals that they should make sure they have sufficient cover for their furry friends.

Meanwhile, Mintel has found that 38 per cent of pet owners do not think they can afford their veterinary fees.

Research from Tesco Pet Insurance reveals that 12 per cent of owners take out pet insurance, which it suggests could cause problems in the case of large vet bills.

"More than half of dog owners have taken their dogs to the vet in the last two years - if you are not insured, there's a hefty price to pay," commented Allan Burns of Tesco Pet Insurance.

With those findings in mind, customers who purchase their Tesco Pet Insurance online are being offered a 20 per cent discount, while those who order over the phone will get ten per cent off.

In December, Defaqto also issued a warning to pet owners about the necessity of buying insurance for their dogs, cats and other animals.
