NFU Mutual Insurance: Flood victims are being helped

Responding to the current flooding crisis in parts of England, NFU Mutual Insurance has explained some of the ways it is helping victims.

Richard Pilkington, technical claims manager at NFU Mutual Insurance, said that the insurer has been contacted by "a number of people" who have experienced damage to their homes or business.

This is the third major weather occurrence in 2008 to affect those who hold NFU Mutual Insurance policies.

Snow in Northern Ireland and Scotland previously impacted upon homeowners, while storms damaged some properties in south-west Scotland, the insurer said.

"At times of flooding our local network of agents really comes into its own with local staff visiting policyholders who have suffered severe damage, giving advice on the spot, making arrangements for damage inspections, and in some cases settling claims immediately," Mr Pilkington added.

In December, NFU Mutual cautioned people to be careful while driving in snow and ice.
