Abbey bonds issued

Abbey has announced that it is issuing a range of new bonds targeted at a number of different customer groups.

The bank has issued a new fixed-rate bond for customers seeking a guaranteed rate of interest for a fixed period of time, offering gross annual rates over one to three years of between four per cent and 5.60 per cent.

Abbey's new 50+ bond has a fixed term of three years and is exclusively available for people over 50 years of age who may be looking for a regular income from savings, offering AER of 5.05 per cent per annum and complementing the Abbey access 50+ Saver account

Finally, Abbey has also created a new Children's Saving Bond for parents, friends and relatives saving for a child's future that offers a guaranteed fixed rate over a term of four years to savers under 18 of 5.05 per cent AER.

Reza Attar-Zadeh, Abbey director of savings and investments at Abbey, commented: "We expect the bonds available in this launch to appeal to both those saving for children or looking for monthly income from their savings."
