Direct Line Home Insurance comments on flooding

In response to the recent flooding affecting parts of England, Direct Line insurance customers will soon be able to process claims more quickly, the firm has said.

People should experience faster claims processing, quicker authorisation of immediate repairs and the possibility of emergency accommodation if necessary, according to Direct Line Home Insurance.

Additional employees have been assigned to manage the larger volume of calls that will likely be generated by the extreme weather, according to Andrew Lowe, head of home insurance at Direct Line.

"As ever, our main priority following events such as these is to help people get back to normal as quickly as possible and with the least amount of inconvenience," he explained.

However, Mr Lowe added that "it may take longer than usual" to deal with all the claims and asked customers to have patience.

Halifax recently warned customers that they should prepare for more possible flooding.
