More Than flood advice given

As people across Britain face storms and flooding, More Than and Royal & SunAlliance have jointly issued some advice to those who may be affected.

Paul Emptage, head of loss adjusting at Royal & SunAlliance, said that "everything" is being done by staff to help people out during the flooding, explaining that they "will relieve some of the immense stress and strain" of the situation.

He added that the "basic steps" recommended by the insurer can help people protect their possessions.

Some of the suggestions made by the insurer include making sure that sandbags and boards are available to block doors, keeping insurance documents in a protective bag, assembling a flood pack ahead of time and being prepared to move furniture upstairs.

The firm also recommends alerting an insurance company as soon as possible after flooding begins.

Previously, More Than had given advice to motorists for dealing with driving in poor weather conditions.
