Bradford & Bingley launches new six-month bonds

Bradford & Bingley is launching two new six-month fix-term bonds, both with market leading annual rates of 6.40 per cent gross (5.12 per cent net).

The six-month bond is available by post, through a local branch or by telephone, but the six-month eBond is only available online.

Each of the bonds requires a minimum deposit of £1,000, with a maximum balance available of £2,000,000 and no withdrawals can be made until maturity.

For savers who like their interest to be paid on a regular basis all products offer the option of a monthly interest rate.

Paul Whitlock, head of savings at Bradford & Bingley, said: "With both the eBond and the regular bond offering the same rate, customers can choose to arrange their savings in a way that is most convenient to them."

He added that Bradford & Bingley's fixed-term six-month bonds would suit investors who want to take advantage of good fixed savings rates, but want to avoid tying their money up for long periods of time.

Last month Bradford & Bingley released three limited edition fixed-rate bonds.
