Co-operative Insurance warning about valuables

In honour of Valentine's Day, Co-operative Insurance has warned consumers to ensure that they have an adequate amount of cover for valuable personal possessions.

Research by Co-operative Insurance reveals that only 35 per cent of Britons have enough cover for their personal items, while even fewer (12 per cent) have specifically designated expensive possessions as part of their policy.

James Hillon, head of home insurance at Co-operative Insurance, said that it is particularly important for people to think about insurance on this romantic day, as many couples could be purchasing expensive jewellery.

"Unfortunately, many people don't realise that they don't have personal possessions cover until it's too late," he cautioned.

Mr Hillon recommended that such investigations should be made before "going down on bended knee" with a ring in hand.

According to recent Alliance & Leicester research, 60 per cent of Britons plan to purchase items for Valentine's Day this year.
