Halifax Travel Insurance warning to rugby fans

Halifax Travel Insurance has warned rugby fans who are planning to attend the Six Nations matches to make sure they have adequate cover for the trip.

Research from the provider revealed that single-trip policies account for half of travel insurance sales.

It suggested that an annual policy might make more sense and be more cost-effective.

Paul Birkhead, senior manager of underwriting for Halifax Travel Insurance, said that it is not uncommon for sport enthusiasts to forget to take out short-term cover.

"With more and more of us taking short breaks abroad, annual travel insurance is proving a more attractive proposition for many people," he added.

Mr Birkhead remarked that annual travel insurance can "in some cases" even be less expensive than a single-trip policy.

Meanwhile, Halifax Home Insurance recently cautioned Britons about underestimating the costs of their DIY jobs, which resulted in headaches later on.
