Co-operative mortgage fees waived

Some of the products that have had their application fees cancelled include Co-operative Bank's two-year fixed-rate mortgage with a 5.79 per cent rate and its five-year fixed-rate home loan at 5.89 per cent.
These and other fixed-rate deals revert to the standard variable rate of 7.24 per cent after their fixed period has ended.
In addition, Co-operative's tracker mortgage rates have been cut by 0.25 per cent along with the Bank of England base rate reduction, bringing them down to 5.24 per cent.
John Barker, head of mortgages at Co-operative Financial Services, commented: "These changes make our fixed-rate range even more competitive against other fee-free deals in the market and we expect that there will be a high level of demand."
In December, Co-operative introduced a two-year fixed-rate mortgage that expires on February 28th, 2010 - a home loan which is also part of its green financial product range.
