Londoners 'spend less than northerners on entertainment'

In contrast to what might be expected, single Londoners actually spend less than northerners and people who live in Scotland on entertainment and nights out, according to Fool.co.uk.

David Kuo, head of personal finance at Fool.co.uk, said that research from the company discovered that Scottish singletons spend approximately £74 per month on socialising, northerners fork out £72 and Londoners spend £61.

"Having been up to places in the north … people do like to go out and socialise and they do like to go out a lot, so perhaps this is being blown up by the research," he commented.

However, the study also found that London residents spend the most of those in any other region on renting DVDs and nights in.

They also admitted to paying an average of £17 each month to keep up their looks, more than any other area in the UK.
