Nationwide Insurance extends cover

Nationwide announced today that it has expanded the range of products covered by its extended warranty insurance.

Electrical items, such as MP3 and MP4 players, digital radios, camcorders and DVD players with hard drives, IPOD docking stations and Freeview boxes which were previously not included will now be covered.

Items that were previously included under the extended warranty insurance, such as washing machines, ovens and televisions, will continue to be covered in the normal way.

Customers that register a new purchase are eligible for a year's free warranty in addition to the existing manufacturer's warranty of up to two years on a broad range of products.

This offer is open to any Nationwide credit card holder who uses their card to purchase an electrical item for home use, provided the item is covered under the scheme, according to Robin Bailey, the bank's divisional director.

Earlier this month, Nationwide was voted the most responsible credit card provider on the market at the annual Card Awards.
