The average annual bill for a Scottish and Southern customer will now go up from £875 to £1,006, following price rises from all other major energy suppliers.
Despite the fact that the UK's six main providers made substantial profits last year, households have seen their bills creep up by an average of 15 per cent - and uSwitch predicts that further price rises of up to ten per cent are likely this year.
The website advises that customers can save money by opting for an online plan, which are often 18 per cent cheaper than standard deals.
Energywatch recently revealed that the UK's major energy firms are charging pre-pay meter users an average of £255 a year more than online customers.
The industry watchdog warned that the higher cost of prepayment meters for gas and electricity is being primarily paid by pensioners and poorer households.
