Saga Insurance: Baggage claims are safe

Saga Insurance has assured its customers that it is not intending to introduce any exclusions on baggage claims for passengers travelling from Heathrow's new Terminal 5, following news that other insurers are planning on doing so.

A number of insurance firms, including Direct Line and Churchill, have said they will exclude baggage loss and delays for those flying out of Terminal 5 from new insurance policies.

Lisa Harris, a spokesperson for Saga, described their decision as "an assault on common sense".

She said that it would continue to encourage passengers to take out full insurance, as not doing so could have "devastating" consequences.

"Other insurers that are introducing arbitrary exclusions of this nature will only encourage people to take out policies that are unlikely to meet their needs," she added.

In other news, Saga launched a new savings product earlier this week - a one-year fixed-rate bond, with a rate of 67.1 per cent gross AER.
