Co-op current account offers savings benefits

The Co-operative Bank has launched a new Current Account Plus, which comes with a linked savings account.

It also has an automatic fee-free £200 overdraft facility and a dedicated service specifically for customers looking to switch accounts.

The savings account has an interest rate which tracks at 0.5 per cent below the Bank of England base rate and is guaranteed for life.

Customers wanting to open a Current Account Plus must pay in a minimum of £1,000 per month.

John Hughes, director of retail banking at the Co-operative Bank, commented: "Our new current account not only offers customers a very competitive rate on the linked savings account … but also provides customers with a very high standard of customer service from the bank recently voted number one on the high street for customer satisfaction."

Alliance & Leicester announced a similar deal today, offering its Premier Regular Savings account to customers opening a Premier Current Account with the bank.
