Annual policies "beneficial" to frequent travellers

People who travel abroad more than three times of year would probably benefit financially from taking out an annual travel insurance policy, according to the head of insurance research at Moneysupermarket.com.

Peter Gerrard suggested that in such circumstances, "it's more beneficial really to take out an annual policy. Annual policies are so cheap now".

He stated that while they used to cost a couple of hundred pounds, a person travelling onto to Europe could now get an annual policy for "just over £30".

According to a recent survey from swiftcover.com and YouGov, 37 per cent of respondents had been the victim of theft in Spain, while 19 per cent had been robbed in France.

In addition, 41 per cent of people admitted to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office that they drink far more abroad than they do at home, which can invalidate an insurance policy.
