Saga credit card launched

Saga has launched a new credit card, the Platinum Visa Card, which claims to offer a "fairer deal to customers".

Repayments on the card are ordered so that after interest and fees, the most expensive debt is cleared first, which differs to the majority of credit cards offered in the UK.

In addition, customers will not be liable on foreign currency charges for transactions in Visa Europe - which includes all EU countries plus a few others - and will be eligible for zero per cent on balance transfers and new purchases for the first six months.

Andrew Goodsell, chief executive of Saga, commented: "This is another product from Saga which puts the customer's needs first."

Yesterday, Abbey launched its new Zero credit card with zero per cent interest on balance transfers and purchases for six months and no foreign exchange, balance transfer or cash advance fees.
