Lloyds TSB Insurance: Homeworkers need right insurance cover

Ahead of National Working At Home Day (May 15th), Lloyds TSB Insurance has urged Britain's growing number of home-based workers to ensure they have adequate insurance cover.

It cited data from the Office for National Statistics which shows that over three million people, or 11 per cent of the UK's workforce, now work from home, 60 per cent of whom are self-employed.

Phil Loney, managing director of Lloyds TSB insurance, said that with home-based companies growing in popularity, it is important for small business owners to have a full understanding of the type of insurance they need.

"If workers are unsure of their policy, they should check with their insurance company. A regular home insurance policy may not cover for various work materials and computers," he added.

Last month Lloyds TSB Insurance found that UK gardens are becoming increasingly valuable, as people increasingly fill them with exotic plants, hi-tech tools and luxury furniture.
