Barclays Stockbrokers launches new Investment Note

Barclays Stockbrokers has announced the launch of a new Investment Note, which gives investors access to a range of commodities, including energy, previous metals and agriculture.

Its Diversified Commodity Investment Note is designed to produce 130 per cent of any rise in value along with repayment of capital, provided it is held for the full five-year term.

Investments can be held within a Self Select individual savings account or a Sipp and start from £500.

Tom Ryan, head of proposition at Barclays Stockbrokers, said: "This new Investment Note has been designed for investors looking to diversify their portfolios and benefit from positive returns of the commodity markets."

He added that the bank had seen a 597 per cent increase in customers investing in the commodities sector this year, compared to the same period in 2007.

At the start of this month Barclays Wealth launched a protected commodities investment called Commodity Select.
