Ethical investment market 'offers range of options'

The head of group communication at F&C Asset Management has stated that there is a lot of choice available in the ethical investment market.

Jason Hollands noted that the range of products on offer had "expanded exponentially" over the last few years, with an estimated 90 ethical funds not available to UK investors.

In addition, the market has diversified from equity funds to include ethical bond products and specialist environmental funds.

However, while he said that the "incredible amount of choice" is "a good thing", Mr Hollands added: "One of the dilemmas facing investors is how to understand the different options available out there and find the investment that is appropriate for them and their own requirements."

According to the Ethical Investment Research Service, almost £8.9 billion had been invested in the UK's green and ethical retail funds by December 2007.
