It provides information on the variety of choices available and the kind of circumstance that each option may be suitable for.
The group's guide also explains the Open Market Option (OMO), which was introduced by the Financial Services Authority to give consumers the option to shop around for the best annuities.
According to research from Data Monitor, only 40 per cent of people take advantage of the OMO.
Saga recommends that those approaching retirement should consider alternative options for their retirement income before committing to their existing provider.
Last week, Moneyfacts announced that current average annuity rates are better than those offered in December last year.
