NAEA: Look regionally for clear housing market picture

Commenting on the latest housing data from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics), the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) has said people must look regionally to get a clear picture of the housing market.

In a statement, the organisation said that it is important to keep the data "in perspective".

The Rics house price balance improved slightly in May, but still remained depressed with 92.9 per cent more of its members reporting a fall than a rise in house prices.

However, some areas fared worse than others, with chartered surveyors in the south-east and East Anglia unanimous in saying house prices are falling.

"The picture is mixed across the country and some areas will be more affected than others, so people really need to look to their local markets to get a true picture," the NAEA stated.
