Barclays adds Eastern Europe option to Emerging Markets Optimiser

Barclays has announced the addition of an Eastern Europe option to its Emerging Markets Optimiser, in addition to the existing Global option.

The Eastern European choice offers a return based on an equal weighting on two indices: the CECE Traded Index, which is representative of shares in the Polish, Hungarian and Czech stock markets and the RDX, which comprises Russian shares quoted on the London Stock Exchange.

As with Global, the Eastern European option uses a risk-adjusting strategy to determine a daily participation in the performance of underlying markets - when perceived market risk is high, the participation will fall and when risk is deemed lower, they will increase.

Colin Dickie, director, Barclays Wealth, commented: "The new Eastern European option is a logical addition and takes our proposition a step further by offering investors the chance to gain enhanced exposure to a more targeted investment base in countries that are widely predicted to perform strongly in the years ahead."

In related news, Barclays Wealth recently re-launched its Defined Returns Plan and added a four-year option.
