Moneynet.co.uk: Regular saving is 'just good housekeeping'

Saving even a little money each month is "a brilliant habit", the chief executive of Moneynet.co.uk has said.

Richard Brown advised people to save regularly, even if only £10 or £20 a month.

While a minimum monthly payment might not equate to a lot, he said that saving what one can develops a habit "for when you are in the position of earning more money" and described it as "just good housekeeping".

Moneynet.co.uk is an online personal finance advice and data analyst.

Figures obtained by Nationwide this month show that while 74 per cent of people thing saving is important, only half do so regularly.

Nearly half (49 per cent) think the current economic climate makes it a bad time to save.

In April, the British Banking Association (BBA) said that personal deposits within banks were rising.

It attributed this to stronger ISA deposits than in previous years, and also the higher rates of return on high street accounts.
