Golden oldies 'still like to party with their cash'

People over the age of 50 are still prepared to part with their cash in order to experience the musical entertainment offered by festivals, it has been suggested.

According to research conducted by Alliance & Leicester Current Accounts, as many as four million golden oldies are preparing to head to events such as Glastonbury, as well as other gigs and live events.

Londoners were found to be the most avid music gig attendees, with a quarter of over 50s in the capital reporting they like to spend time at such events.

This compares to 14 per cent of their counterparts residing in the north-east of England.

In a warning to festival goers, Emma Walkley, current account manager at Alliance & Leicester, said: "Attending gigs and festivals like Glastonbury can make a significant dent in the finances so it's important for people to look for ways to make their money stretch further, particularly over the summer months."

One of the biggest events in the music calendar, Glastonbury got under today (June 27th) and has attracted crowds of over 130,000.ADNFCR-323-ID-18659826-ADNFCR
